Stuff that sucks

For some reason there are many things in this world and in the web in general where stuff actually sucks and we are supposed not to notice or feel in some way bound to repeat the hype that it is "the best thing ever" (since the last one).

As a list of Uber spoilers you may wish to flame Lord Matt or his site. We have a forum for that sort of thing with an invisible thread called Keep it To Yourself.

Stuff that sucks (but shouldn't)

  • FOAF: (See the extended Why FOAF Sucks) Skinny version: rubbish UI and support.
  • R v B website. Red Verses Blue is as funny as f* comidy series from Rooster teath and as such it is no supprise they have a website where fans can gather and talk. My mistake however was thinking that it would be full of funny people. It is packed to the gills with lame arse winny niinies that have nothing original to say. It sucked.
  • Live Journal: A Lord Matt Blog (may or may not work anymore) entry on the subject. It is far too restrictive and does not allow free members to feed out thier content or feed in other rss/xml. -4 on the things that rule scale.
  • Linux - bloody clumsy, annoying, difficult to get working (requiring very standardised hardware (often)), takes hours to get used to and requires programming skills just to install stuff which is not always up to the job. It has patch support and fails to do half the things I need an OS to do. In the end I removed linux from my computer so I could do something more interesting with the space... which turned out to be: leave it unformatted for now but kid myself that i'll go get some partition software and use the space to store MP3s. I'm still waiting for some-one to write a REAL operating system... I may need to wait forever.
  • Both FireFox and IE6 - neither are as sure fire perfect as their fans tell you. It's just a case of selecting the one you hate least.
  • Friendster: A Lord Matt Blog entry on the subject (may or may not work anymore).
  • Wikis: Wiki's suck for the same reason they rule. They score an impressive 8.5 on the things that rule scale while also coming in at -9 on the same scale for the same reasons. some anti hype to keep you sane.
